Jeremy Langford replacing Matt Forte
Marquess Wilson (groin) was listed as a limited participant on Monday’s injury report, Chicago Bears ‘ official site reports. Forte has been recovering from a MCL sprain that he suffered against the Minnesota Vikings.
With Matt Forte out the past two weeks with a knee injury, rookie running back Jeremy Langford has filled in admirably for Forte, in fact Langford has been so good, he has many asking if he should displace Forte as the Bears starting running back.
Prior to the game, Forte was on the field testing his knee.
“The National Football League is what have you done for me lately”, Forte said Thursday.
But new general manager Ryan Pace shown no signs of extending Forte’s contract in the off-season, with the 29-year-old’s current deal set to expire in March. So everybody is always looking for the next best thing.
Although he played in last week’s victory over the St. Louis Rams, Jeffery was used primarily as a decoy, finishing with just three receptions for 23 yards. Coach John Fox isn’t sure if either of the two offensive standouts will be available when he faces his former team.
Langford joined Hall of Fame running backs Walter Payton and Gale Sayers as the only other player in Bears franchise history to finish a game with at least 100 receiving yards, a receiving touchdown and a rushing touchdown, according to ESPN’s SportsCenter.
