Adele on track to break sales record
Adele’s third studio album, “25”, has been available since November 20, and it’s already poised to break *NSYNC’s longstanding one-week USA album sales record of 2.42 million copies sold.
‘In the same way that Taylor Swift was a standout success previous year, it didn’t stop music sales declining.
Prior to the release of “25”, it was confirmed that Adele’s first album in nearly five years will not be available for streaming on services like Apple Music and Spotify, NY Times reported.
A true, private artist through and through, Adele followed up this quote in Rolling Stone by explaining although she is now 27, her album was titled “25” because this was the age all of her artwork and writings were influenced upon.
It is just as much of a hit as we knew it would be!!
For the past few years, the music industry has relied on a sort of Christmas miracle, a last-minute release from one of the few artists who can still move the needle and keep sales figures in the black. BuzzAngle, a new tracking service that competes with Nielsen, estimated that by Saturday the album had sold 1.9 million copies in both digital and physical form. It will be Adele’s second number one.
On iTunes, 25 has sold at least 900,000 downloads, and the album is No 1 on Apple’s iTunes chart in 110 countries. A record company hasn’t shipped that many new releases since 2000, when 4.2 million units of NSYNC’s No Strings Attached shipped – and that was before digital purchases were ubiquitous.
It has been the only album to sell two million copies in the U.S.in a single week but Adele is predicted to finish the week of sales with more than 2.5 million albums snapped up by adoring fans.
Epic sales… Adele’s 25 has instantly broken chart records worldwide and will debut at No. 1 this week. With this, surely, Adele would have no issues selling hard copies of her music than putting it up for streaming. In the interview, Adele also admitted that she had never expected to become as famous as she did and that the long period between 21 and 25 gave her anxiety on how her new album would be received by fans.
