Canadiens forward Gallagher out indefinitely
If you haven’t heard by now, the Canadiens will be without their star right winger Brendan Gallagher for an undetermined amount of time after he blocked a Johnny Boychuk slap shot with his left hand, incidentally breaking two of his fingers.
Canadiens coach Michel Therrien announced after the game that he would undergo surgery on Monday for two fractured fingers, and would be out indefinitely.
The injury is uncharacteristic for Gallagher considering he has played in 229 of the past 234 games for the Canadiens, per Peters.
After finishing last season with a career high 24 goals and 47 points in a full 82 game season, Gallagher has increased his scoring by a wide margin in his first quarter of the 2015-2016 campaign.
Gallagher has been playing on the top line with Max Pacioretty and Tomas Plekanec this season.

RW Devante Smith-Pelly missed the game with a lower-body injury suffered in Friday’s game against the Islanders in Brooklyn. Price improved to 9-2-0 on the season.
