Carrie Fisher, who plays General, depicted Leia as “single and under a considerable measure of weight”. Meanwhile, Johnson’s “Star Wars: Episode VIII” is slated to premiere in theaters on May 26, 2017 while Colin Trevorrow’s “Star Wars: Episode IX” premieres in 2019. “She’s referred to as General”, Abrams told EW’s Anthony Breznican.
More and more information now has been revealed regarding the highly anticipated upcoming new installment of the epic “Star Wars” series of films, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
J.J. Abrams has described Carrie Fisher as “crazy brilliant” in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Nobody calls her “Princess” anymore… with a single exception.
However, that doesn’t mean she and Abrams are spilling any more details on Kanata than they have to. Or it could well be Han Solo, with whom Leia shares a heart-wrenching embrace at a Resistance base.
“I had a few specific ideas about how she would work and what she would do”, J.J. Abrams said. Therefore Leia is not concerned with goofing around. You have to understand who the character is and what makes them who they are”, she says. “As an actor for films, your eyes are a lot of the way you communicate anyway.
As for Fisher and Harrison Ford reuniting for the newest instalment of Star Wars, Abrams says it’s “historic”. The cast only pretends to be interested in each other.
When asked about reuniting with Harrison Ford for “Force Awakens”, Fisher jokes and states that the two are pretty much exhausted of each other at this point, and that the biggest thing that the actress is interested about is how Ford has kept in such good shape over the years.
