Warmer temperatures expected in the midstate for Thanksgiving
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 32. A cold front will arrive around sunrise bringing scattered light rain through the morning. Winds are already showing signs of swinging out of the south which won’t allow temperatures to drop much overnight.
By Tuesday evening and into Wednesday morning, snow could dust levels as low as 2,500 to 3,000 feet. This might be low enough to affect some of the Coast Range passes as well as the Cascade foothills. However, most of that rain will remain concentrated over northwestern sections of the viewing area Saturday before moving south and east Saturday night. Cold and blustery weather is expected to follow, continuing well into the Thanksgiving weekend. Partly cloudy skies with winds shifting to the south/southwest. The weather looks clear and dry through at least the first part of the holiday weekend – making for excellent travel conditions for those headed over the river and/or through the woods.
Stay on topic – This helps keep the thread focused on the discussion at hand.
Friday through Sunday, the flow should be more northeasterly and could bring slightly drier air for a brief period (the big guidance models differ somewhat on this). In addition, a brief surge of warmer temperatures means most of what falls will probably be rain (if anything at all).
High pressure will control the weather this week giving us plenty of sunshine and no rain until late week.
SATURDAY: Mostly cloudy skies and lingering rain showers will be around, with a chilly high temperature of 48 degrees. Northwest winds 10 to 15 miles per hour with gusts up to 25 miles per hour.
“We could have freezing rain and ice through the Plain states into Friday”, said Brian Fortier, a senior meteorologist at the Weather Channel.
Tuesday…Mostly cloudy, with clouds increasing during the afternoon.
