Kevin Bacon Will Star in a New ‘Tremors’ TV Series
The franchise also spawned four direct-to-video sequels, none of which Bacon took part in.
He’s had an incredible career and he’s only six degrees away from everyone on earth, but Kevin Bacon’s true masterpiece is arguably still Tremors.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the new series is a joint effort between Blumhouse Productions and Universal Cable Productions, with Bacon attached to star and executive produce. Bacon, who recently starred in Fox’s The Following, only appeared in the original Tremors (and doubtless turned down ample opportunities to be involved with the sequels). However, given that this has Kevin Bacon attached to it, I imagine that Universal would be shooting for a more high profile network. Andrew Miller, whose previous works include “Backstrom”, “The Secret Circle”, and the 1999 Dennis Rodman film “Simon Sez”, will adapt the film to television. As expected, Bacon will reprise his role as Valentine McKee. “I’d love to do something else with Tremors and revisit the character 25 years later”, he said.
It’s unclear where the proposed series might ultimately end up, as the project is being shopped around by UCP and Blumhouse.
The one thing “Tremors” fans have been waiting for is finally about to happen.
