Album of Hymns Coming from Joey + Rory
Country and gospel music fans were stunned by the news that Joey Feek, half of the husband and wife bluegrass duo Joey + Rory was diagnosed with cervical cancer shortly after the birth of the couple’s youngest daughter 16 months ago.
He goes on to describe how they assembled the album, while dealing with her failing health.
“Then suddenly her hands started shaking and she closed her eyes and started sobbing”, Rory wrote.
“She was inconsolable”, he said.
“And then, just like that – over my shoulder, through the window she saw it …”
“Rory said the note brought out some raw emotions for Joey, who responded, “‘I want to raise our baby…
“And then through her tears, she said the words… the ones I knew she felt, but she had never said before… the words that are the hardest, most difficult part of all that she, and we, are going through”.
‘We’re going to sleep tonight remembering the morning we welcomed her into the world. “God sent us just what we needed… just when we needed it. He always does”.
Rory wrote about how a neighbor wrote to Joey, saying how her daughter couldn’t wait to go to camp with the almost 2-year-old Indiana.
Rory posted a video on Wednesday to celebrate IN being 21 months old, featuring a then-pregnant Joey on social media. “I held her in my arms as she held Scout’s picture to her heart and cried and cried”.
But the two shared a special moment when Joey had to briefly return due to a bit of unbearable pain.
“You would’ve thought the heavens had parted and Jesus had come back, by the light in her eyes”, Rory wrote on his blog “This Life I Live: Scenes From One Man’s Extraordinary, Ordinary Life”, chronicling his wife’s battle against cervical cancer. “And I know he loves me”, Joey Feek says.
‘Afterwards, when Indy got sleepy, Joey held her and sang In The Garden and other hymns as she softly stroked her silky-blonde hair. ‘It was heartbreakingly handsome to see and hear’. They are staying in IN right now with Joey’s family and the snow has already started to fall in this area.
Joey Feek has made time for her entire family, including a visit with her mother and father and three sisters over Halloween weekend.
