Google Play Store Coming to China Next Year
The Chinese government had charged Google under several laws.
In response to Google’s desire, Shen Si, the CEO of Chinese mobile advertising company, Papaya Mobile, and a former Google employee, mentioned in the related report, “Having a product in China would be a symbolic gesture to show that the company values the market”.
Google is looking at launching the Chinese version of their Google Play store next year. This would be Google’s first major venture in the market after ending localized product support in 2010.

Given that condition, China is a big market for Google to expand its products and services.
It could be recalled that five years ago, Google has to largely pull their services out of China after the company refused to censor their search results.
The sources also told Reuters that the company intends to abide by with Chinese laws on filtering content that might be viewed as sensitive by the ruling Communist Party, and laws requiring storing the app store’s data within China. There are lots of free ways of getting music in China and that is why it becomes so hard for a Western service to enter the market.
The government of China is said to be sensitive to foreign companies who conduct their business in the country.
Regarding the timing of the launch, the sources said that it could be made some time after Chinese New Year in February next year, and before early summer.
The preparations for the big release are already starting as Google employees lay the foundation for the app’s launch.
Google hopes is app store will include as payment options Alipay and Tencent’s WeChat platform, said a person familiar with executives’ strategy.
A spokesman for Google based out of Singapore has declined to comment on this.
Because services like its search, e-mail and mapping are blocked in China, the US firm is trying to cement partnerships with domestic providers like Mobvoi, which offers technology similar to Apple’s Siri and Google’s own version.
