“BioShock is unquestionably a permanent franchise”, says Take-Two boss
Bioshock originally launched in 2007, followed by a direct sequel in 2010, and Bioshock Infinite in 2013.
BioShock Infinite, the most recent game in the BioShock series, has sold over 11 million copies to date. To foster the most direct relationship with our fans possible, we will focus exclusively on content delivered digitally.
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says that BioShock fans don’t need to worry, as the publisher sees BioShock as “a permanent franchise”.
2K, specifically 2K California, is handling the series right now, and while no new game has been announced, Zelnick recently reiterated the importance of BioShock. Let us know in the comments! “The franchise is in the hands of 2K”, he said. The series is now being passed around 2K Studios, with 2K Marin being the last developer in charge of the series, though things may have changed since then.
Strauss Zelnick revealed this info at the MKM Partners Investor Day conference in NY City, where Strauss also stated “We’re thrilled to be in business with Ken”. He described their small, upcoming project as “something highly creative and innovative”. “I think that would be a reasonable expectation for whatever he does next”.
