Clinton: I Would Not Support War Declaration Against IS
She told us it was for cost cutting.
Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton said November 9 she would continue and expand on President Barack Obama’s climate change initiatives as some of her first acts in office.
Hillary Clinton says she would not want to support a declaration of war against the Islamic State. “We will have too many veterans who will be left out or denied the care they need”. “One of the great attributes that Chris Stevens had was a really good sense of humor”, said Clinton.
“Unfortunately that’s the political season we’re in”, the candidate said.
Christine Quinn, a member of Clinton’s NY Leadership Council and fundraiser for her campaign, called the joke “dangerous rhetoric which perpetuates sexist and misogynistic stereotypes” and cautioned that “if Bernie Sanders does not want to be seen as someone who uses sexist language and perpetuates a unsafe sexist stereotype of strong women, then he should tell his people to stop”.
At the Bridge Cafe in Manchester, Clinton was asked if her reaction was appropriate.
Clinton’s plan would allow some private-sector care, but not full privatization like some Republicans have called for, and would allow VA supervisors “to suspend or remove underperforming employees”.
The big lead for Clinton comes as she has a 28-point advantage among women and a 41-point lead among voters over age 45.
Veterans groups immediately responded to Clinton’s remarks.
Paula Faris agreed with Behar, adding that Clinton should stand up for the “only other female” running for president.
They point to a recent interview where Clinton said this about the Department of Veterans Affairs: “It’s not been as widespread as it’s made out to be…” Also participating in the Des Moines Register-sponsored encounter will be former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, who was backed by only 5 percent in The NY Times/CBS News poll. The bad news is, MSNBC, the go-to post-debate news source for many Democrats, has not announced any post-debate coverage and their schedule says the news network plans to air Lockup all night long.
