Thomas Rawls Starter After Marshawn Lynch Out
Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Thomas Rawls rushed for 209 yards and a touchdown and added a catch for another score to lead the Seahawks to a 29-13 win against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.
“I never run out of bounds, he said”. Defensively, you’re going to pin your ears back – ‘Here we come.’ You’re going to be under duress. “I have a ton of respect for his play”. He also had 46 yards on three receptions and another score.
It was the first time Seattle had a player rush for more than 200 yards since Shaun Alexander had 201 yards against Green Bay on November 27, 2006.
“Coach talked a lot about ownership this week and we’ve got to own this one”, Wilhoite said. “To see a young guy come through and be so physical and so tough and to make the most of an opportunity”. That was a bit of a different run play but we should have been able to fit that up. Rapoport revealed that Lynch is confirming if it is a sports hernia and is determining his course of action with a specialist on Monday. “We’ll know something by Wednesday, probably”.
Lynch first appeared on the team’s injury report last Friday after tweaking a muscle at the end of a practice.
Lynch, who turns 30 in April, is owed $9 million next season. They can feel confident that if Lynch does go out for the season Rawls knows exactly what has to be done. His back can flare up at any time and Carroll noted a neck issue at one point earlier this season as well. The Eagles (4-6) have lost two in a row, but are only one game behind the NY Giants (5-5) in the mediocre NFC East. “You can ask him to be in two gaps and he’ll handle both gaps”.
“The defensive lineman fell on his ankle, and he might have had a little sprain there”, Carroll said. “That’s why they treat you”.
So, not being aggressive for the typically stout San Francisco defence? Maybe the docs have got something they can help him with. He has played very well with Russell Wilson thus far, so it could be interesting to see whether the team could continue to win with him as the primary back.
Wilson threw three touchdown passes while completing 24-of-29 for 260 yards. His completion percentage is 65.0 percent when pressured this season, compared to 35.2 percent for Kaepernick, according to Pro Football Focus. It’s his first three-touchdown game of the season and only second game of the year with multiple touchdown passes.
Rawls’ 209-yard rushing day vs. the San Francisco 49ers was about to put the Seattle coaches in a big predicament: Figuring out how to split carries between their veteran star, Marshawn Lynch, and the undrafted upstart.
Rawls did more than just take over.
Gabbert found tight end Vance McDonald for a 19-yard touchdown pass with nine seconds left in the half. He also ran for 22 yards on four scrambles. Steven Hauschka missed the attempt after the Seahawks’ second touchdown, and the kick was blocked after Rawls’ touchdown in the fourth quarter. Steven Hauschka missed the extra point off the outside of the right upright, his first true miss in 40 points-after-touchdown.
