Tom Brady Used Rex Ryan as a Play Call Against the Bills
On a first-and-10 early in the third quarter, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady took the snap and rolled out to his right.
It led to an uneven win. “I think now, I know what this team has, what we are capable of doing and, quite honestly, it was more true to playing Bills defense, to playing our defense, and I think we understand that a little bit better than Week 2”.
Brady is not the first Patriots player to troll Rex Ryan, who was the coach at the Pats’ rival the Jets until this season. “I think some of the things that we didn’t do well had nothing to do with missing some of the guys”. The Bills were mixing up their blitz packages and kept the Patriots guessing and off-balance.
Amendola made it off the field on his own and never left the sideline. Aaron Dobson was also hurt and had to be helped off the field after making a catch.
Tom Brady went 20 of 39 for 377 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the game. It’s hard to fault Chung for being in this match-up, but this was a huge play that the Patriots wish they didn’t let up.
“Whoever plays”, Patriots coach Bill Belichick said, “we expect them to play well”.
“You see the pressure”, White said, “you gotta get your head around quick, get the ball, and try to make a play”. “He doesn’t take risks”.
Jim Daopoulos, an 11-year referee in the league, also hammered the call. “The thing is, we just came in here and got the win and wins are always big”. Dan Marino had 72 against the NY Jets to set the record. Wide receiver Chris Hogan had six catches for 95 yards. He remained in the game after apparently injuring his shoulder late. They lost their explosive back, Dion Lewis, to a torn anterior cruciate ligament. With 47 seconds left in the third quarter the score moved to 20-10 New England. The Patriots used their stars and their unsung players on both sides of the ball to turn back the Bills 20-13 at Gillette Stadium. Unable to produce a touchdown to finish out the drive, the Patriots were forced to kick a field goal which… you guessed it… went for 0 points in a rare Stephen Gostkowski miss.
Line judge Gary Arthur was the one who blew the whistle. “That’s a mistake and we shouldn’t have blown the whistle”. You can follow them on Facebook and Twitter @patspulpit.
What might you get if you took a group of the largest shot putters you could find right out of the Highland games and charged them with protecting the most important asset to a multi million dollar organization? For the runner to surrender himself, he has to truly give up on the play – such as when a quarterback slides before taking a hit. This was ironic, since the ones accused of cheating are typically the New England Patriots. “So that’s how they came to that decision”.
The Patriots further distanced themselves from the Bills after Buffalo’s Leodis McKelvin fumbled a punt return when he was hit by New England safety Brandon King.
With the wind chill temperature at 21 degrees at kickoff, both teams struggled on offence.
Despite all these things, the Patriots either controlled the game or seemed to control the game throughout the duration due to their perception. But if the ball is loose “resulting from a legal forward pass” – in other words, if it’s in the air – the ball is returned to the previous spot, and the down is replayed.
