The Force Awakens Advanced Ticket Sales Passed $50 Million
It looks like EA Games has this week launched the first of many Star Wars Battlefront titles as the publisher has announced that they have plans for many sequels. Instead, most movies rake in ticket sales within the final two weeks of the year, particularly the sweet spot between the Christmas and New Year weekends. The highly-anticipated fantasy flick, which has already earned million in early ticket sales, also stars Lupita Nyong’o, Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega and Gwendoline Christie.
“The Force Awakens”, directed by J.J. Abrams, opens in the United Kingdom and Australia on December 17 and in the US on December 18.
The veteran actor reprises his role as Luke Skywalker in upcoming sci-fi blockbuster “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens”, but he has been sworn to secrecy over the story details. Now I’m beginning to think I was low-balling The Force Awakens.
“I think it’s going to own January”, said Erik Davis, managing editor of Fandango, one of the nation’s largest online ticket retailers. Who am I kidding?
As it stands, the first film in the Hobbit series holds the record for biggest December weekend of all time, with $85 million. Imax, which will show the film in about 390 theaters domestically, sold around $6.5 million worth of tickets in 12 hours – it previously never had sold more than $1 million a day in presales.
As well as the Star Wars ANA jet, the airline has designed a BB-8 ANA jet, and a R2-D2 ANA Jet.
Lucas also revealed that he is making more films but not ones that anyone will see.
