Parents say popular toy is getting stuck in their kids’ hair
They’ve caught the attention of the kids – but they’re also getting caught in their hair. The squishy, colorful, circular pieces have interlocking hooks which makes them stick together for building and for easy clean up.
The post on Amazon also read: “Buy this toy for someone if you hate them or their child”.
They’re called Bunchems, although most parents are calling them a headache after spending hours trying to pull these little suckers out of their children’s hair.
In response to hundreds of parent complaints, Bunchems released an official help video to its YouTube channel: The rundown is this: If you turn around to find your child with dozens of little balls stuck in their hair, don’t book a hair appointment just yet. It recommends parents use conditioner or vegetable oil and a comb to get them out.
Parent’s have been taking to Instagram and Amazon to share their stories.
One review, rated most helpful by shoppers, is a one-star entry dramatically titled: “A Toy Spawned From the Darkest Depths of Hell”.
Another review on the online shopping site said: “Mega pack got mega stuck in my kids hair along with her friend”.
One hairstylist wrote that she spent four hours getting Bunchems out of a girl’s hair – and the process cost $200.
According to reviews on Amazon, the plastic balls keep getting stuck in their kid’s hair and are a nightmare to get out.
“This is the 21st century version of stepping barefoot on Legos”, he added. Others say they’ve even had to cut the toys out.
“We look at those as guidance on how to make our product”, says Arlene Biran, vice president of marketing at Spin Master.
