Carolina capitalizes on turnovers in win over Washington

Quarterback Cam Newton threw five short touchdown passes as the Carolina Panthers won their 10th game in a row, smashing the Washington Redskins 44-16 on Sunday afternoon at Bank of America Stadium.

While the Panthers have looked like legitimate Super Bowl contenders for some time now, their hot start no longer a fluke, they’re quickly becoming the team nobody will want to see in January (or February).

For what it’s worth, Rivera’s Bears wound up beating the Cowboys 44-0 that season and went on to win the Super Bowl. “It was over by halftime when Newton had 167 yards and four touchdown passes, throwing darts into the end zones and ignoring the fool in burgundy and gold holding a sign proclaiming this to be “(Racial slur) Country”.

“He’s a lot further away from the injury, the back injury, so we do think he’s going to be more able to handle the consecutive days in the short week”, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. “He spends the first part of individual every day working on ball-security drills, and we’ll continue working on it. He’s got to understand as a running back in the National Football League, once you have this M.O., the only way to shake it is to protect the ball”.

“It is a little disrespectful, but apparently they know something we don’t”.

Newton became the first quarterback in franchise history to throw four TD passes in the first half as the Panthers jumped out to a 31-14 lead. The Panthers aren’t asking too much of him and he only has three games this season where he threw for over 250 yards, but he is playing very well.

Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 22 of 30 passes for 207 yards as the Redskins dropped to 4-6.

Cousins was sacked five times.

The Cowboys are finally healthy now that they have Tony Romo back, to go along with Dez Bryant and Greg Hardy – key players who have all missed time this season.

Cam Newton completed 21 of his 34 passes for 236 yards and touchdowns to five different receivers.

But the game undoubtedly changed in the second quarter, when cornerback Chris Culliver intercepted a Newton pass and took it back for what would have been a go-ahead pick-six.

The Panthers (10-0) scored 27 points off five Washington turnovers, three of those by Cousins. But the referee made a decision – made a call.

-RB Alfred Morris left early in the first quarter against the Panthers with a ribs injury. Newton found Olsen on a crossing route for a 9-yard TD pass to push the lead to 28-14. Though Stewart isn’t known for taking over games, as he has just for over 100 yards just twice this season, his physical, aggressive running style adds a necessary edge to this offense that allows Newton to capitalize on worn down defenses.

Cowboys 24, Dolphins 14: MIAMI GARDENS, Fla.

Even though Carolina was wobbly after building leads in the previous two home games against Indianapolis and Green Bay, the Redskins didn’t provide a comeback threat. In Week 10, the Redskins beat the New Orleans Saints 47-14…. Matt Jones did not do any better as he only had 5 attempts for 0 yards and lost a fumble. It ranks fourth in total defense, allowing an average of 322.8 yards a game, and fifth in points allowed per game with an average of 19.1.

Next comes a home game against the NY Giants (5-5), with first place in the mediocre NFC East on the line.
