Union cancels strikes at Lufthansa
The union said it would provide additional information on Wednesday and would therefore not disclose the times of possible walkouts that were announced Monday.
The cabin crew union UFO said Monday that it would walk out Thursday, Friday and also Monday as it presses its demands, the dpa news agency reported.
Deutsche Lufthansa cabin crew called off a strike originally planned for later this week, a step toward ending a labor dispute that has already brought on the airline’s longest-ever disruption.
It said the UFO had agreed not to stage any further strikes at least until December 2, when an employment summit will take place.
On Tuesday morning, no details were available on which flights would be affected by the strikes, which makes planning and preparing an emergency schedule even more hard, Lufthansa said.
Relations between the two sides had soured over recent months as Lufthansa sought to push through cost cuts.
The cabin crew union strike in November costed the company tens of millions of euros and forcing the cancellation of about 4,700 flights.
The union is demanding that the current system of early retirement provisions remain unchanged, while Lufthansa has argued that those measures are too expensive.
