Industries, 3D Systems, Sandboxr Team-Up to Create 3D Printed “Halo” Spartans
If you’ve been busy unlocking collectible items in the Xbox One title Halo 5: Guardians, you’ll be happy to know they’re good for more than in-game cred.
Even before Halo 5’s release, 353 Industries launched their Spartan customization website, allowing users to customize their characters for use online. The gaming world has also stepped into this world with certain games allowing for the 3D printing of a user’s in-game character. The on-demand 3D printing will produce Spartans in photorealistic color that will be shipped to clients’ doorsteps. Through a partnership with Sandboxr and 3D Systems, Halo 5 players can now order a 3D-printed version of their Spartan, complete with customizations made to it. “Our 3D Digital to Doorstep platform, along with 3D Systems’ global fulfillment capabilities, makes it possible for those Halo fans to get what they want; a high quality, fairly priced, customizable 3D printed Halo collectable”. The smallest model measures around 4 to 4.5 inches.
Each figure will also include a Halo 5: Guardians REQ Supply Pack for no additional charge, available until December 6, 2015. “And if you’re anything like me there’s always a slight twinge of disappointment when you show up second or third on your team, so now you can always place yourself in pole position, right on your desk!” Popular video games like “World of Warcraft” have, in the past, promoted real-life versions of some of its characters.
