Golden State Warriors Win Record 16th Straight Game to Start Season
The Washington Capitols in the 1948-49 campaign and the Houston Rockets in 1993-94 won 15 games in a row before slipping to their first defeats.
After the game, Curry said in his television interview that it was “special” to be in the history books. Curry said Tuesday that the Warriors haven’t played their best basketball yet. “We’ve got to figure out how to play systematically in a position that’s going to keep us in a ball game”.
“There’s no championship hangover for us”.
“So far we’ve been unblemished and done everything we need to do to get 16 wins”. But at the same time, I’d much rather be full and know what we’re going to have and play at a high level for most of the year so we know what we can fall back on at the end of the season.
After allowing the Lakers to close within 14 early in the second half, Golden State left no doubt by ending the third quarter on a 31-10 run to take a 34-point lead.
Curry had nine assists in three quarters without committing a turnover, and Draymond Green added 18 points as the win came easily against the Lakers, who have the worst record in the Western Conference.
This one was over right from the start. In their path are Kobe Bryant and his woeful Los Angeles Lakers (2-11).
“It means I’ve been playing too long to see that turnaround happen, that’s what it means”.
The Warriors, on the other hand, have a legitimate chance of breaking another record that was considered near impossible.
Golden State would need to find five more victories than they did past year – 67-15 – to equal the Bulls record. Its biggest threats – if it’s even possible to have one at this point – will likely be the Cavs and Rockets. They both had 27 and 28 points respectively.
Don’t write the Clippers off just yet.
The Los Angeles Lakers were involved in a historically significant game Tuesday night, although not because of anything to do with them. Williams, Julius Randle and Larry Nance Jr. led the Lakers in scoring with 10 points.
“Yeah, they could [break the 33-game streak] – because they’re good”. He also knocked down a sweet buzzer-beater before halftime.
In short: Based on statistics alone, it’s hard to pick Green out of a lineup consisting of the NBA’s best playmakers.
Pacers wingers Paul George an C.J. Miles put on a show in the nation’s capital Tuesday. The Jets were led by Ray Lumpp who scored 26 points and Bruce Hale who scored 23. “I think [Green] has that naturally, and then, he’s getting more and more reps doing it, which is making him more efficient in that role”. On the other side of the court, Miles was not so quietly having a career night.
According to ESPN Stats and Information, Bryant is the first player this season with four or fewer points on 14 or more field goal attempts.
