The Following DLC Causes Increase in Dying Light Season Pass Price
Dying Light: The Following will remain free for anyone who’s already purchased a Season Pass, or will be available on its own for the revised price of $19.99.
Game developer Techland explained the reasoning behind the price hike as due to the massive amount of content that the upcoming “The Following” expansion pack offers.
Techland is yet to nail down a final release date for the DLC, though it mentioned today that it is now in the “polishing period”.
If you’ve yet to see what all the fuss is about, IGN’s review of Dying Light says “High-speed parkour and gruesome zombie massacres make Dying Light a blast”. ‘Looking at it, it’s clear how big the expansion pack has grown – it could be a stand-alone title, but since it would mean a launch delay, we decided against it’. With these changes, The Following will have to deliver something worthy of the increase in price or gamers may wonder what the increase in price was needed for.
It’s great that The Following is even bigger than expected, but it’s really unusual that a company would intentionally increase the price, when simply keeping it the same price might garner some good PR for an already lauded title.
The United Kingdom price has risen to £15.99 – the previous price of the game’s Season Pass. Previously, the DLC was announced with a USA price of $14.99, equivalent to £9.99.
