Nitish Kumar takes oath as Bihar chief minister
Interestingly, as iamin spoke to the people who had travelled from far-flung areas of Bihar to attend the ceremony, many confided that they were confused who among RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and JD(U) Chief Nitish Kumar was taking CM’s oath.
JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar took oath on November 20 as Bihar’s 35th chief minister.
Lalu Prasad’s youngest son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is not simply “older” than his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav on paper.
Supporters of the JD-U, RJD and Congress from across Bihar are pouring in at the Gandhi Maidan. Ashok Choudhari Is son of veteran Congress leader Mahavir Choudhari and state unit chief.
The RJD chief’s tweets comes just a day after his younger son Tej Pratap was asked to repeat a word after he fumbled during his swearing-in ceremony as Bihar’s Cabinet Minister.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had accepted the invitation from Kumar, could not attend the function due to prior engagements.
When queried on his lack of experience, Tejaswi said, “Nitishji and other seniors are there to guide us”.
His elevation as Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s deputy has cleary established him as the successor of Lalu Yadav’s political legacy. However, past experience of being in partnership with BJP will not exactly be beneficial because sharing power with Lalu Prasad led RJD and a resurgent Congress will necessitate learning the art of running coalitions all over again. CM Nitish Kumar, replying to queries by media persons said that Tejaswi was a new entrant to politics and will learn the required skills with time.
From JD (U) party – Nitish Kumar, Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Lallan Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Shrawan Kumar, Jay Kumar Singh, Maheshwar Hazari, Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma, Santosh Nirala Khurshid alias Firoz Ahmad Shailesh Kumar, Kumari Manju Varma, Madan Sahni, Kapildeo Kamat.
Among the “grand alliance” partners, the RJD became the single largest party in the assembly with 80 seats, while the JD(U) bagged 71 and the Congress got 27.
Some allies of BJP Akali Dal Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal (Akali Dal) and Ram Das Kadam and Subhash Desai (Shiv Sena) were also present.
The JD(U) stalwart is credited with re-laying roads that had virtually ceased to exist, building over 12,000 bridges and 66,000 roads, completing long-delayed infrastructure projects, appointing more than three lakh school teachers and ensuring that doctors attended health centres.
