Bears at Packers: Preview and prediction

To help us preview this epic Bears vs Packers Thanksgiving night showdown, we’ve enlisted the help of our old “frenemy” Ray Rivard of Lombardi Ave to help us out with our weekly Five Questions. It’s easy to win when no one’s watching, but the playoff teams, the division champions, and the contenders win no matter how big the stage.

Sure, the Vikings seemed to be the favorites heading into yesterday’s 30-13 loss, but talk is just unnecessary noise.

Fourth loss in a row, and the football world may have been ready to write off the Packers for another NFC North title and possible playoff push.

He looked well enough against the Vikings to run for season highs of 100 yards on 22 carries, adding sorely-needed balance for an offense that had been struggling during the three-game skid.

Lacy had rushed for all of 78 yards in 33 carries in his previous four games. When he did have a chance to redeem himself, he fumbled.

A lot of criticism was leveled at Aaron Rodgers through the Packers’ three-game losing streak. Detroit is averaging just 71.1 rushing yards per game.

“Maybe we’ll get you guys off our back for a couple days”.

Making his first career start on his 25th birthday, Osweiler came out on the first Denver possession of the game and found a wide-open Demaryius Thomas for a 48-yard touchdown pass. That would be his only score of the game, as he balanced some nifty play action that frequently found the Chicago defense out of place with some clunky stretches.

The Packers, however, were able to convert third-and-15 with a 50-yard pass interference penalty assessed to Newman and eventually get a touchdown for a 16-6 lead with six seconds remaining after an offsetting penalties and an illegal contact penalty continued to extend the drive. Mason Crosby kicked five field goals, all from more than 40 yards, including one from 52.

The touchdown catch and subsequent two-point flip from Rodgers to Jones gave the Packers a comfortable 27-13 lead. Stafford has been intercepted 12 times and has been sacked 26 times so far.

“What we’ve done previously was to put ourselves in position to where we could control our own destiny”, Newman said.
