Thanksgiving Weather Warnings for Texas
The National Weather Service said there’s a slight chance for freezing rain and sleet before 9 a.m. Friday, coming on the heels of rain that could total up to two inches and cause some flooding in far southern Wisconsin.
By late Thursday night, a series of thunderstorms, like train cars rolling across a single track, will produce heavy rain, possibly 2 to 4 inches in an hour, in a few isolated areas in Central Texas.
By Thanksgiving Day, the same front that’s bringing light and scattered showers from Minnesota and MI to Texas cranks up the intensity.
“Basically from Phillipsburg (KS) to Kearney to Ord, west of that line you’ll have wind speeds about 15-20 mph sustained gusting 25-30 but east of that line you’re going to see 20-25 mph sustained, 30-35 mph sustained”, he said.
Also on the menu: lots and lots of rain.
Reimer added the atmosphere may become cold enough to support a sleet/snow mix across the northwestern Texas Panhandle on Friday and Saturday. KCRA 3 meteorologists are tracking the Thanksgiving week storm and have detailed five things you need to know about the upcoming rain and snow.
Sun: High: 39 Low: 28 Early a.m. freezing drizzle then just cloudy. Cloudy, with a low around 59.
