Amendola Not Expect To Miss Extended Time With Knee Sprain
Patriots receiver Aaron Dobson was carted off the field with an ankle injury in Monday night’s game against the Bills and is questionable to return, the team announced.
Amendola was cast as the No. 1 receiver on Monday because Julian Edelman is out with a foot injury.
According to CSNNE’s Tom E. Curran, it’s just a sprained knee for Amendola and he is not expected to miss an extended period of time with the injury.
He was targeted 12 times and had nine receptions and after he went down with an apparent knee injury late in the contest, his absence was significant, especially with Dobson out of the line-up. In New England’s last two games, Amendola has 19 receptions on 23 targets.
They don’t have any wide receivers on the practice squad, but if they’re concerned about Amendola’s availability, they could call up tight ends Asante Cleveland or Joseph Fauria from the practice squad. Pregame coverage begins at 5:30pm, with three hours of postgame coverage following the game. For now, owners shouldn’t plan on having Amendola for Sunday, but it sounds like one missed game might be the worst-case scenario.
