Houston Rockets fire head coach Kevin Mchale
The Houston Rockets have fired Kevin McHale who brought them to the Western Conference finals for the first time in 18 years.
With Brad Stevens now the head coach of the Celtics, Ainge offered McHale that he would be doing broadcasting for the Celtics and probably a trainer for the young team.
It took a running 30-footer by Corey Brewer with 0.9 seconds left in regulation time to give the Rockets a chance to pull out a 108-103 over the Trail Blazers and give J.B. Bickerstaff his first career win as a head coach.
Before Wednesday’s game against the Mavericks, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens spoke out against the move by defending McHale and his coaching track record.
“I can just judge on how their team did”, Stevens said. He architected the defense previous year that was top 10 overall and top five when Dwight (Howard) played. I just think that’s really unfair to Kevin McHale …
“I told Kevin that today”, Ainge said, according to the Boston Herald. Harden said he was comfortable with him from the moment they met, adding: “I felt like I was talking to an actual player”.
But by looking at the trend in the past couple of games, though, one could say that change was indeed coming.
“But again, it’s not my call. I’m hurt that he’s not here, and I’m hurt that I won’t get to see him every day”. But I send my best to Kevin and wish him nothing but the best. They fell to eventual champions Golden State Warriors, 4-1.
“It’s preposterous”, Carlisle said. “Here’s a guy who has such wonderful integrity as a person”.
The Rockets played much of the game with sloppy mistakes and terrible shooting. It’s surprising when something like this happens, shocking even. But he’s going to be fine. But be it Bickerstaff or someone else who gets the job of coaching this team, it’ll have to be about creating some sort of offensive cohesion and discipline. The west in recent years has been a blood bath at the top, meaning that a few of those teams with high expectations were destined to be heart broken.
“He did an unbelievable job putting that thing together”. While Thibodeau is one of the great defensive minds in the National Basketball Association, he has his fair share of issues too, including his extremely vanilla offense and playing his guys way too many minutes.
