Zlatan hoping to impress in return to boyhood club Malmo
Zlatan Ibrahimovic is hoping the home crowd in Sweden sing his name today, despite his determination to fire Paris Saint Germain into the knockout stages of the Champions League and end boyhood club Malmo FF’s European adventure.
“It is of course fantastic for him to get this chance, so we fully understand that this is unreal for him, but we’re aiming to win”.
Ibrahimovic started his career in the youth team at Malmo, before moving up to the first team in 1999.
Pep’s never struck us as an angry man but we can’t wait to see how he replies to this latest barrage from Zlatan.
In the 14 seasons since he left his hometown club Malmo, Ibrahimovic has won 12 domestic league titles – although the two at Juventus were later revoked due to a broad match fixing scandal.
The ten time Swedish footballer of the year has provided a big screen for Malmo’s residents to watch the game in the city centre.
But Malmo still holds a special place in his heart, and this week marks an emotional return for the 34-year-old.
“You all know what has happened in Paris so preparations have been hard. It’ll be a special moment”.
“I am enjoying it, I enjoy every day on the field”.
“We are a lot better than a year ago, so we have a good chance of winning the Champions League”, said the talismanic striker, who has scored nine goals in nine Ligue 1 games so far this season, though is yet to open his account in Europe.
Les Parisiens are now second in Group A, three points behind Spanish giants Real Madrid before Wednesday’s clash at Malmo.
