Manchester City were left facing the prospect of another unforgiving draw for the knockout phase of the Champions League after conceding their second successive defeat to Juventus in a 1-0 reverse on Wednesday.

Pellegrini has already stated his wish to finish top of the section, and avoid a meeting with a group victor such as Barcelona or Bayern Munich in the last 16, but such a scenario seems likely after this defeat.

But despite that Marchisio is aware Juve’s job is not done yet and he also knows City, after their past struggles in the competition, are keen to go through as group winners this time.
