Brad Pitt’s Exposure to Gun in Early Childhood
Hollywood Actor Brad Pitt admitted that he was given his first gun when he was in kindergarten. Since he was exposed to guns from a very early age, he does not feel safe without a gun in the house now.
Pitt said that the place where he grew up has a tradition of passing down ancestral weapons, therefore his brother inherited his father’s gun and he inherited his grandfather’s shotgun when he was in kindergarten. The actor who was born in Oklahoma was raised in Missouri was first introduced to air gun and then a shotgun. He had already fired a handgun by the time he was eight year old. He is happy and proud that his father has instilled in him respect for weapons. Therefore when Pitt is with his family, he definitely needs a gun in the house so that he can feel secure and safe.
Recently a lot has been debated and deliberated upon in relation to accessibility of guns in the United States. Since the US saw mass shootings at schools and universities in many of the states, the issue of accessibility of guns and other weapons has been the hot topic for debates. Barack Obama, President of the United States said that nation needs to do some soul searching over gun controls in November, 2013.
He said so many people die in mass shootings or get killed and the number of people dying is exponentially higher than in other place. This is becoming a norm and as a parent, he is terrified and he is ashamed that The Congress cannot put any restrictions. On the other hand, gun rights supporters these fatalities are due to crazy people and not accessibility to guns. Obama retaliates to this and says that there are crazy people in other nations too and US do not have monopoly on crazy people.
