Syrian Refugee Gives Back To Germany By Feeding Their Homeless
Every weekend, Alex Assali, a refugee from Syria, distributes food to the homeless people of Berlin as a way of thanking the nation that gave him a new home.
As highlighted by a post on Facebook, one of those refugees is now determined to give something back to the country he now calls home with a touching act gesture. “I really have hope that other people from my community, who are seeking help as I do, have opportunity to come here and start a new life, as we are starting to do…the image of ISIS does not represent us”. The image, found on Imgur, has received over 2,865,908 views in the two days since it’s original posting.
His friend Tabea Bü, who posted the image on Facebook, said they were “overwhelmed” by the response to the post.
One comment under Tabea’s post reads: ‘This. He was photographed giving out warm food to the needy on a Berlin street. Want to be one hand (Syrian and German citizens) to help the others and help each other’.
A sign on Alex’s stand states that he’s part of a Syrian Christian project to help the homeless or anyone in need in Germany.
Bu told German media that she met Assali at Sharehaus Refugio, an organization that provides assistance to people who have lost their homes or were forced to flee their homes, Stern magazine reported.
‘We both never imagined what this little post could do, but we are happy that we did bring a little light into the world’.
‘God bless him, he is a blessing for so many more’.
