Sheena Bora murder case: Peter Mukerjea brought to Mumbai
Former media baron Peter Mukerjea reaches Mumbai on Thursday as his Central Bureau of Investigation custody comes to an end in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case.
Mukerjea was produced on Monday before the court where the prosecution sought 10 days’ custody of Mukerjea, claiming he was not cooperating in the investigations into his step-daughter’s murder and the CBI had come across certain documents of which he (Mukerjea) had exclusive knowledge.
Peter is likely to be flown back later at night to Mumbai from Delhi where the CBI took him for further probe and possible lie detector test.
“Unbridled speculation in media on Peter’s culpability apart from being hurtful is counterproductive to fair trial”, said the Mukerjea family statement.
Mumbai: Though Indrani Mukerjea, prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, disliked Rahul Mukerjea, she did not have the same attitude towards his brother Rabin, also Peter’s son from his previous marriage, and never restrained her husband from talking to him.
“As of now it has been found that he is part of the larger conspiracy and had to know of what was happening and that he conspired with the accused (Indrani)” said a CBI spokesperson.
“In one account she had made a fixed deposit of Rs 80 lakh, which was opened after Sheena’s murder”, the official added.
The agency has earlier revealed that the motive behind the murder was monetary gains.
According to CBI, Rahul Mukerjea and Sheena Bora were in a relationship. Sheena Bora was allegedly strangled in a auto on April 24, 2012, and her body was burnt and dumped in a forest in Raigad. Last week, Indrani’s present husband Peter Mukerjea, the former CEO of Star India, was also arrested.
