Ozil stars as Arsenal beat Dinamo
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger aired his concern for a number of his players during Tuesday night’s Champions League victory over Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb, according to the Daily Express.
Those results mean that Bayern are through to the knockout round and Arsenal will join them if they beat Olympiakos by two clear goals in Greece on December 9.
Having lost in Zagreb and at home to Olympiacos, as well as being thrashed 5-1 in Munich, Arsenal’s start to the campaign left them in a position that still requires them to win by two goals in Athens. “One goal might not be enough but if you lead 1-0, they will be in the situation where they can lose it and we will be in a situation where we can win it. So we have to go there and win”. They have a lot of quality, much more than Olympiakos.
Arsenal’s Champions League hopes are still alive after they eased to victory against Dinamo Zagreb at Emirates Stadium.
“He had an outstanding first half, he has got the taste for scoring now”, Wenger told BT Sport.
Wenger said: “We had to come out of this game with a chance and we have done that – now let’s make right what we didn’t do right until now”.
It’s a relief for Wenger, who had to confirm that Francis Coquelin will be out for at least two months a knee injury following the game against Westbrom, as reported by the website.
“But to win titles, you don’t win it with 11 players, you need 25, and everyone has to play a role during the competitions”. From then on, once we had scored the first goal you could see the chances were coming. “He believes in us, and we believe in him”.
We just need to win.
“The season is always very long so sometimes you have to accept being on the bench but sometimes you have the opportunity to prove you can still play in the Arsenal team”, he was quoted as saying by British media.
Ozil, who was energetic and imaginative throughout on a cold November night, bravely headed the Gunners ahead on 29 minutes, and four minutes later Sanchez stroked home Nacho Monreal’s cross from close range. I tried to compromise a little bit [with the substitutions] by taking off Giroud and not taking a risk with Bellerin. “We wanted to get an early goal and not have to reach the 70th minute with the game tight”, scorer Thomas Mueller said. They have a good chance.
