San Diego hosts torch run for Special Olympics tomorrow
BAKERSFIELD, CA.-The 2015 Special Olympics World Games kick off in just one week.
Almost 7,000 athletes from close to 170 countries are about to descend upon Los Angeles and USC to compete at the Special Olympics World Games. Mayor Johnson, Cypress Police Department Interim Chief Rod Cox and Special Olympic athlete and Final Leg runner Maria Brandt from Pennsylvania will be speaking at the event.
Macerich, a leading owner, operator and developer of major retail properties, yesterday announced its participation in the upcoming Special Olympics World Games 2015 in Los Angeles by providing full support to the delegation of athletes and team members representing the Republic of Seychelles – the 115-island archipelago nation located in the Indian Ocean.
Toyota is the official automotive partner of the Special Olympics and raised the money from its 76 dealers across Southern California.
The torch relay includes stops in more than 120 cities and will be complete July 25 at the opening ceremony for the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games at L.A. Memorial Coliseum. As a Host Town, South Pasadena will play a vital part in welcoming Special Olympics athletes from around the world and will join the global community in celebrating their achievements in what will be the largest event hosted by Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympics.
Current and former 49ers joined Santa Clara police officers for the Law Enforcement Torch Run at Levi’s Stadium on Thursday.
