Kerry against Terrorism, Pro Palestinian Statehood

Medical authorities say a Palestinian shot and critically injured by Israeli regime forces during a demonstration in the central part of the occupied West Bank a couple of weeks ago has died of his wounds.

The earlier remarks Kerry made when he met on Tuesday with Netanyahu had outraged the Palestinians, mainly when he said “let’s work together to put an end to the Palestinian terrorism and bring about calm in the region”.

He too accused Kerry of siding with Israel and decried the USA state secretary’s description of “lone-wolf” attacks by desperate Palestinians as acts of “terrorism”. The Palestinians are also frustrated by the failure of decades of peace talks to deliver them an independent state. With statehood we will be in charge of security in the West Bank and Gaza and we will do it better than the Israelis.

The Israeli daily Haaretz reported that a Palestinian man came out of his vehicle armed with a knife and stabbed the soldier.

In this context, the statement emphasised the importance of the Security Council to discharge its main role including the issuance of a resolution which aims to develop necessary mechanisms and procedures to ensure the safety of civilian Palestinians.
