Scream Queens Recap: Thanksgiving at the Kappa House
Chanel takes him to the meat locker, but of course Hester’s body isn’t there. But let’s start in the Hamptons where Chad brought Chanel to meet his family. Like her bodies before, Chanel doesn’t understand why they always seem to disappear. Frustrated, #3 disowns her family and heads back to Kappa.
Scream Queens airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
As we have discovered, Grace not only has mommy issues affecting her holiday spirit, but also arson convicting lying daddy issues as well. On the eve of Thanksgiving, there will be more bloodshed as the dreaded serial killer appears at Kappa house.
It’s a very Radwell Thanksgiving on Scream Queens! However, Chanel has bigger issues, like Bunny Radwell, Chad’s mother.
After being kidnapped, Zayday made a decision to take matters into her own hands after it took her friends too long to find her. Grace (Skyler Samuels), Pete (Diego Boneta), Wes (Oliver Hudson), Gigi (Nasim Pedrad) and Denise (Niecy Nash) found the Red Devil’s layer but he escaped before they could find out who he was. Chanel tries to get her story of thankfulness out, but Chad’s mom shuts her down nearly immediately.
In the previous episode, Chanel learns that Chad has invited Hester for a family Thanksgiving party after the latter pretended to be pregnant. Chanel is alarmed when she discovers in the Radwell’s eyes her and Hester as exactly the same, gold digging hoochies. He even goes so far as to ask Chanel #1 to have a threeway with Hester’s corpse.
However, the whole group united when it was time for the turkey – even Chad came to join (yes, Chanel took him back). Now that the ladies of Kappa Kappa Tau have determined that Munsch is a killer, they decide they need a plan. Munsch calls out Chanel #3 because of her “real” Dad. Chanel #3 defends herself by saying she uses the downstairs bathroom to poop every two weeks and it becomes quite the workout.
Thanksgiving, despite the limited appearance by the Red Devil, actually gave a lot away about the identity of the murderer. Grace, Zayday, #3, and Munsch were at Kappa. She then went on to Kappa for rush activities. The revelation that Wes fathered Boone isn’t a particular game-changer, it just complicates Scream Queens’ already-perplexing family tree. For someone who has a habit of sneaking into places, it seems odd Pete’s first piece of evidence against Wes was that back in 1995 Wes attended the Kappa tunnel parties, meaning he would know how to get into the Kappa house. Any show with a whodunnit at its heart plays the blame game at some point but rather than the groundless finger-pointing that has come before, Thanksgiving posited many legitimate theories. Wes’s excuse? He’s on a strict paleo diet now that he’s dating again and since he has a small teacher’s salary, he’s been stealing the meat to eat. Grace mentions he does happen to look more fit.
However, the “orgy of evidence” leads to records that reveal that Wes is the father of the bathtub siblings. “Dinner” is simply their family’s frozen food line’s Thanksgiving meal. Chanel and Hester arrive and Chanel #5 carries out the platter with the cooked turkey.
Offing Gigi was the most impactful curveball Scream Queens has thrown at us since they revealed Nick Jonas wasn’t really dead (oh, what a lovely day that was). She orders room service to show her gratitude that the Red Devil is spending time with her, as she abandoned her family years ago.
I still believe there’s a fairly strong case against Chanel #5. Through this bit, we also learn that Kappa has surveillance cameras set up all over the place. But just who cut off your head-and did they do it with an electric carving knife??
