No streaming for Adele’s new album!
Adele decides not to make her new album “25” available on music streaming services including Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music as there is a great probability of the album to break the all- time opening week sales records.
Additionally, Adele’s sales have been given a hearty boost because they’re not now streamable on Spotify or Apple music or anywhere else – a business benefit not afforded to most major artists since about 2000, when Pandora was established (when, unsurprisingly, the current record holder “No Strings Attached” was released).
“Hello”, the first single from the album, released at the end of October, has logged more than 400 million plays on YouTube and topped the USA charts for the past three weeks. Her “1989” sold 1.3 million its first week on sale a year ago, the fastest seller in some time, and Bakula said Adele’s disc is likely to finish the week with more than twice that number sold.
Bieber won the race for the hearts and dollars of young female music fans against One Direction, whose Made In The A.M. finished its first week of release with 34,866 sales. “25” already holds second place on that particular record table, ahead of Take That’s “Progress”, which sold 519,000 copies in November 2010. Streaming music fans were disappointed to find out that Adele’s 25 would not be available on streaming music services just before it was set to be released.
“There are, or were, elements of what happened with 21 that really frightened me”, Billboard reported she said on air.
“25” is Adele’s third studio album.
Bloomberg reports that despite being rejected by British singer Adele, Spotify still remains hopeful to secure the artist’s next album for its streaming tier.
Critical reaction from music journalists who had access to advance copies suggest fans won’t be disappointed but perhaps “25” will not be the seminal experience “21” was for listeners.
The music industry has placed enormous hopes in Adele with “25”. However, Adele’s spokesman did not have any say on this.
Adele told Ryan Seacrest, “We’re like in a solid relationship, and he’s my soul mate and my best mate, and he sees it as my art and my outlet and something that I did before him”.
