Rams’ Stedman Bailey Shot In Head
Rams’ wide receiver Stedman Bailey was reportedly riding in a auto with two young relatives and a cousin in Miami, Florida, when a shooting occurred.
The Rams said in a brief statement early Wednesday that Bailey, 25, was hospitalized and that he was in critical but stable condition.
Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey is in critical but stable condition after the shooting.
Bailey, 25, suffered non-life threatening injuries, but has to undergo surgery, reports said. Bailey’s cousin was shot multiple times while attempting to shield the children in the vehicle from the bullets, the family member said.
It is worth noting that Bailey has been serving a four-game suspension without pay for violating the league’s substance-abuse policy, and wasn’t going to be playing on Sunday. The victims drove themselves to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Rams coach Jeff Fisher said, “All I know is that he’s now in surgery, and I discussed it with the team in the team meeting”.
The incident happened in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Rams punter Johnny Hekker tweeted, “Praying for guardian angels over Sted”. Another man, Antwan Reeves, was with Bailey and also was shot in the incident Tuesday night. Bailey, whose injuries are not life threatening, is scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday. “I don’t wanna believe it”, Rams defensive end Chris Long tweeted. ESPN.com reported Bailey was in the operating room for nine hours, while NFL Network reported the operation took eight hours.
“I was aware of where he was”. Another vehicle arrived and “opened fire”, police said. He was also suspended for four games in 2014 for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs (that suspension was later reduced to two games). I don’t have specifics right now, but what I can tell you is that he’s in stable condition. Bailey would forgo his senior season and was drafted by the Rams in the third round of the 2013 draft. Back in 2007, Ishmael had a touchdown reception playing receiver in a 30-13 win while Bailey had 190 total receiving yards from New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith.
