Real Newborn Left in Church Nativity Scene
Christmas came in a bit early at Queens church in NY after a newborn baby boy was found wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a creche, just like in the Nativity scene.
Police said that did not happen in this case, which has led investigators to begin searching for the person who dropped the child at the church.
The mother appears to be holding something wrapped in a black jacket and buying products at the store counter.
At a Holy Child Jesus Church in Queens, New York, a local custodian returned from his lunch break and heard sounds of crying.
A baby boy was found in a manger.
After hearing the baby cry, Mr Moran alerted the parish priest, the Reverend Christopher Ryan Heanue and called 911.
Emergency crews were called to the scene. EMS arrived and transported the infant to Jamaica Hospital.
NY State law states that parents can legally leave their baby at a safe location in the first 30 days after birth – as long as they tell the right people about it.
A couple that attends the church has already offered to adopt the miracle child but for now it is under the care of the Administration of Children’s Services while police try to find the biological mother. Surveillance video obtained shows a woman walking inside the church with a baby folded in her arms. “They believe as I do, this child was left in the church for a reason”.
The infant was thought be just four to five hours old when he was found by a church custodian, CBS reports. “I feel for the mother, for her sorrow, and for the feelings that she must be going through”, Father Heanue said. A hospital, staffed police or fire station are examples of safe and suitable choices.
“This child, we believe, is a gift, almost, to this parish”, said Heanue.
Because the mom didn’t surrender the baby to a person, she is now under investigation by the police.
