BMW 5 Series to debut at Paris Motor Show 2016
In order to keep up with the competition, namely the Merc which promises technologies that not even the mighty S Class doesn’t possess (yet), the new 5 Series will try to introduce new technologies and also deliver plug-in hybrid versions.
Will debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, reportedly.
The second generation of BMW’s more practical 5 Series variant will eschew some of the hatchback-inspired styling features of today’s auto. The front end too should benefit from several of the style cues that have been included in the S-Series saloon. The smaller 3-Series GT hints at the general shape we can expect while some of the finer details, such as the grille size and shape of the headlights, appear to match the designs used for the latest 7-Series. The highlight of the new OKL platform is its lightweight construction using high-strength steels and carbon fiber-reinforced plastic without sacrificing on structural rigidity. This collectively helps engineers to shed up to 100 kg (not confirmed) compared to the current model. The cabin will be carried over from the 5 sedan with only minor modifications, meaning the GT will be offered with the gesture-controlled infotainment system that was inaugurated by the 7 Series.
An example are those new B47 diesel and B48 petrol four-cylinder units, and because they have 500cc per cylinder, this means an overall volume of 3.0 liters. MINI India has established four exclusive outlets – Bird Automotive (Delhi), Infinity Cars (Mumbai), Navnit Motors (Bangalore) and KUN Exclusive (Hyderabad). Standard gearbox options will include a six-speed manual and a nine-speed automatic, with the M5 sticking with the seven-speed dual clutch setup.
