Favre back in Green Bay
The Green Bay Packers host the Chicago Bears in one of the three games on Thanksgiving Day, November 26 start time at 8:30 PM ET, at Lambeau Field.
But in this particular moment, which I remember with vivid clarity, I was truly awestruck: Here was Brett Favre, one of the greatest quarterbacks ever to have spun it, telling me with complete and disarming sincerity that he’d had to figure out a new way to spin it on the fly. That happened in July in a ceremony held in conjunction with his induction into the team’s Hall of Fame.
Brett Favre is set to have his No. 4 become the 6th retired number in Green Bay Packers history. Yeah, I was excited, not to mention in the Super Bowl, second or third play of the game.
“The way he treated fans, the way fans adored him, really a symbol of what is unique about the Green Bay Packers and their fans”, said Aaron Popkey, director of public affairs for the Packers.
Favre’s National Football League career records include 6,300 completions, 10,169 pass attempts and 297 consecutive starts.
There’s a game to play, too.
It seems the focus is always on the Bears offense when it comes to starting fast, but the defense is looking to do the same, particularly against the Packers. On the ground, Eddie Lacy rushed for 22 yards.
Green Bay are coming off a victory to break a three-game losing streak, while Chicago get running back Matt Forte and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery back for the NFC North meeting. Forte this week said he was able to cut and run at full speed at practice. Jeffery missed his fifth game of the season in Week 11 due to groin and shoulder injuries, but despite his limited appearances he still leads the Bears with 515 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Thanks in large part to QB Jay Cutler enjoying a renaissance in spite of injuries to key cogs on offense, the Bears are 4-6 SU and 6-4 ATS. “So hopefully we can do much of the same, control the clock, get the run game get going”.
People from all over the country, and the world for that matter, traveled to Titletown for the special day, driving or flying for hours to spend their holiday with the Packers and the gunslinger. He is 0-4 at Lambeau Field with a quarterback rating of 41.1, three touchdowns and 12 interceptions. This season, the Packers have scored first-quarter touchdowns in seven games and are first in the league with a plus-57 scoring differential in that regard.
