Oakland Raiders vs, Detroit Lions
I think the Raiders take this one. This left the Raiders four defensive lineman and the middle linebacker to match up with the Lions offensive line.
“Anytime you lose, it’s not a step in the right direction”, Raiders coach Jack Del Rio said.
Calvin Johnson (Wide Receiver): Johnson was expected to abuse this secondary however he also came out of this game looking somewhat unimpressive.
Michael Ola, who played the majority of snaps at right tackle last Sunday in Green Bay, started. Janikowski was good from 48 and 56 yards, and kicked one extra point. We need to find ways to get him more involved. Both had been listed as questionable on Friday. But the Raiders still view him as the unsafe weapon he always has been, a guy who had nine catches for 214 yards and two touchdowns the last time these teams met in 2011. Carr and Del Rio gave it a shot. “Can throw the ball a couple different places or I can run it. made a decision to run it and it worked”. “He’s a really gifted player”.
“There’s going to be times where you hit a lull or things like that, then you get a drive”, said Carr.
This week, Derek Carr will look to bounce back from his somewhat lackluster performance against the Vikings where he threw two costly interceptions and go back to the stellar quarterback that he has been all season. Just because the team has been at the bottom of the barrel for more than a decade doesn’t mean they’re happy to be also-rans.
The Oakland Raiders face off against the Detroit Lions at 1 P.M. EST.
“We haven’t given up yet”, Ansah said.
The big play from Peterson came in the 4th quarter, when the Raiders were attempting to make a comeback.
The catch a break of sorts given that Detroit’s running offense is absolutely anemic – averaging just under 67 yards a game which puts them dead last in the league. Though their defense has been less than stellar (30th in yards allowed per game, 27th in points), the Raiders still have a chance at the playoffs.
Heeney’s missed tackle on Tate’s 21-yarder, a 3-yard pass from the 20-yard line at the end of the third quarter, gave the Lions new life. On paper, this is a game the Raiders “should” win.
Carr was held to 169 yards passing and Amari Cooper managed only one reception as the Raiders lost 18-13 to Detroit on Sunday. They haven’t had a winning road record since going 5-3 in 2011. We’ll never know what would have happened if Crabtree’s catch had been ruled complete (it would have been a first down) and the series would have continued.
“We have to continue to go out each Sunday and play sound football”, cornerback TJ Carrie said. “Obviously, he’s a good player for us”. Guess what? They are not a good team YET. “We knew were one of the best defenses in the National Football League a year ago, and we haven’t shown any of that this year”.
The fast starts have been key. But they grinded their way to 109 yards and were able to run effectively enough on the final drive to burn the final 7:22 off the game clock.
“It’s important in terms of hopefully taking the crowd out of it a little bit”, offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said of starting fast. For the first time in a while, the offense looked out of synch and was limited to just 14 points.
