Denver Broncos Stick with Brock Osweiler for Matchup Against New England Patriots
With quarterback Peyton Manning now expected to be sidelined for at least two games, the Denver Broncos signed Christian Ponder to give themselves depth at the currently thin position Tuesday morning.
His most recent injury could not of came at any worse timing for the Broncos though.
Kubiak said that Manning would start again once he is healthy enough, but if Osweiler continues to play well, there is a chance that he could remain the starting quarterback even if Manning can return.
Manning missed last week’s game against the Chicago Bears, opening an opportunity for 25-year-old Brock Osweiler to start for the first time in his career.
When Gary Kubiak was hired to replace John Fox as Denver’s head coach, he decided right away to change things offensively with the Broncos.
There will be plenty of fantasy football considerations out on the field for this one, so with that in mind let’s check out some of the key players to see what we might be expecting from our lineups in Week 12. “He did a heck of a job”.
Demaryius Thomas, WR, Denver Broncos: Thomas corralled a gorgeous 48-yard touchdown in the first quarter against the Bears, but didn’t do much after that.
“If I was ever to sit down with him, the only thing I would say is to stay patient”, he said on a conference call Wednesday. “That’s hard for him, but he’s been great with me”. I wasn’t going to let one of those days go by where I didn’t learn something. “I think it’s really about the system”. RB Ronnie Hillman is coming off third 100-yard game of season. Fast-forward to Monday night against AFC East rival Buffalo, Brady took a beating and didn’t lead a touchdown drive until the final seconds of the second half. Next Sunday the Denver Broncos are set to play the undefeated New England Patriots. He completed a season-low 51.3 percent of his attempts (20 of 39) and was intercepted once while working with a receiving corps beset by several injuries. Passing-down back Dion Lewis suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Week 9.
But Brock Osweiler is looking forward to Sunday night against New England. “For us, you circle the game, we don’t think about the game until it comes up that week”.
And with Osweiler at the controls, the offense did something it hadn’t done all year: play a game without a giveaway. We’ve got to get open.
“There was a concern, too, because we’re sitting here with a guy who has one start in this league [Brock Osweiler] and a kid who doesn’t have a play [Trevor Siemian]”, Kubiak said. “We’ve got to do everything better”.
