The pilgrims at Plymouth Rock were refugees
Today we can visit a replica of their first settlement, Plymouth Plantation, just north of our Conanicut Island. When the Pilgrims lost half their population and were plagued by starvation and disease at points, they still found the will to celebrate something. O’Fallon’s local charities and non-profit groups work hard throughout the year to provide programs and services for those less fortunate and it is through the dedication of these groups and the community’s generosity that numerous families in O’Fallon will experience a happy and peaceful holiday season. “In fact, there was only one time in American history when the fear of refugees wiping everyone out did actually come true, and we’ll all be sitting around a table celebrating it on Thursday”.

To me, the meme would make more sense if posted by those who believe the US should protect its borders and have stricter immigration policies.
I am not sure he fully understood the object lesson. However, there are always other ways to celebrate and bring awareness.
I’m still confused over the particulars but, if memory serves, it’s got something to do with the first pilgrims arriving and the Native Americans helping them not starve.
Their answer was a resounding, “NO. Never”.
