Volkswagen presents emissions fixes for diesel engines
At present South Korea’s Environment Ministry said it had not yet determined whether VW vehicles with the newer EA288 engine (primarily Euro 6 models) had rigged emissions.
More than one in four owners of the affected Volkswagens in the United States – approximately 120,000 customers – have taken up the company’s offer of a $500 voucher as an initial goodwill gesture. It was also the engine of choice for the Volkswagen Touareg and the Porsche Cayenne since 2013.

The ministry launched its own test last month over whether six types of the diesel engine Volkswagen vehicles sold here met the emissions standards under outdoor and indoor driving tests.
Volkswagen has also set a target of “no adverse effects” on fuel consumption and performance but stopped short of confirming this would be the case until final validation testing has been completed.
VW claims to have solved the emission problem with just a software update on the 2.0 liter engine. Australia has said that there are 91,000 vehicles with cheating software, meanwhile, Volkswagen India has found compliance issue in 100,000 vehicles.
“Volkswagen is finding its financial footing more quickly than expected”, Dudenhoffer said in an email. “This is a mesh that calms the swirled air flow in front of the air mass sensor and will thus decisively improve the measuring accuracy of the air mass sensor”. A defeat device alters emissions-control systems in a way that violated clean-air laws. The company estimated this issue alone could cost it 2 billion euros (US$2.1 billion).
On Wednesday, regulators in California ordered VW to recall around 16,000 diesel vehicles.
Volkswagen has admitted that up to 11 million diesel cars worldwide are fitted with devices that can switch on pollution controls when they detect it is undergoing testing.
