Nina Dobrev Preferred to Ian Somerhalder on ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Set
Talking about the show post-Dobrev’s exit, actor Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon Salvatore, told Variety that he had reservations heading into season 7.
Despite these growing rumors, Somerhalder has remained positive about the new direction the show is taking without Dobrev.
Ian Somerhalder himself seemed to actually be pleased when Nina Dobrev quit her role for The Vampire Diaries, because now the show’s focus centers more on his character, Damon.
When the news first came out that Candice King was pregnant with her first child, of course one of the immediate questions was how in the world The CW was going to write this into “The Vampire Diaries”.
“What we’ve just started shooting is such a departure (from what is expected of the show)”, Somerhalder stated in the interview.
The synopsis further teased that Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) will set their risky plan in motion in order to eliminate Julian’s new threat. “I just started shooting episode 10, which is a concept episode”.
He also made it clear that it was the best episode not because it is his character that is to be featured on it but because the way the story was put together, the wardrobe, and everything were all on point. There’s no room for them to be at odds with each other. However, the celebration will be a deadly one because Enzo (Michael Malarkey) describes the event as a murder party in the promo video of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, episode 8 titled “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me”.
However, it is not only Somerhalder that gets to have a say on how they feel about Dobrev’s departure. “TVD” is now in the midst of its seventh run and, according to reports, Dobrev’s absence is felt both on and off screen.
The Vampire Diaries is an American supernatural drama television series developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, based on the popular book series of the same name written by L. J. Smith.
With that in mind, Plec was asked whether or not the series was approaching an end following Dobrev’s exit.
“No”, Plec stated. “It’s not on our radar yet”. Stefan and Damon were able to make their mother see that Julian is a monster in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, episode 7. Are Ian’s co-stars exhausted of his self-important diva antics?
“Nina Dobrev’s friendliness was preferred to Ian Somerhalder’s diva behavior on “The Vampire Diaries” set”.
