Thanksgiving shoppers feast on deals before Black Friday

Continuing the discussion on spend trends during the Thanksgiving weekend, Black Friday and Cyber Monday are two of the biggest shopping days of the year and of the Thanksgiving weekend. Stores open at 6 a.m. on Black Friday.

Argos is offering deals on more than 350 items from 1am online, including £220 off an LG 49 inch tv, £80 off a Toshiba Celeron laptop and a £70 saving on a Tassimo coffee machine, while Superdrug is heavily discounting skincare, electric toothbrushes and perfume.

Even with the later openings for many stores, some retailers began pushing out their Black Friday deals earlier in the day for online orders.

JCPenney – Most stores open at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving. If we weren’t shopping, stores wouldn’t be open and their employees would be with their families.

Make a Plan of Attack – Once you have identified the best deals on the items you want to buy, make a list of each item, the best store in which to buy it, the discounted price and the normal price.

Walmart seems to stand out from the rest of the carriers during this Black Friday. “We bought deep on televisions, toys and more to ensure hundreds of customers in a store – not tens of customers – get the gift they want”.

According to the National Retail Federation’s Preliminary Thanksgiving Weekend Survey, an estimated 135.8 million shoppers or 58.7 percent definitely will or may shop on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and/or Sunday, similar to the 61.1 percent who planned to previous year and more than the 55 percent of holiday shoppers who said they did shop in stores and online over the weekend in 2014.

There are numerous offers are available for this day on several websites.

One thing to bear in mind is that it’s been done slightly differently this year with many retailers offering deals for the entire week.

Known for its blockbuster Black Friday deals, Wal-Mart won’t disappoint this year.

With a weak dollar to pound, competitive shipping costs and a long history of Black Friday deals, you might find some of your best options come from shopping American sites. The company’s Prime members get access to many of these deals 30 minutes before non-members.

In total, a record 155 million USA consumers plan to shop during Black Friday and the surrounding week.

Target Corp. scheduled a Thanksgiving Day opening at 6 p.m., but with a twist.

Martin Lewis, founder of MoneySavingExpert.com, has warned that the majority of Black Friday deals “aren’t special” and advised shoppers to cross-check deals with items they actually need. I’ve heard there is a push to chill Black Friday down some, but REI is the first I’ve heard commit.

The biggest retail chains-including Wal-Mart, Target and Best Buy, planned to open at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, while others preferred to wait for the traditional Black Friday sale-including Staples, T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeGoods.

Toys R Us: 5 p.m.

Kohl’s – Opens at 6:00 p.m. Most of Walmart’s stores are open all year round.

Black Friday is starting earlier and earlier each year.
