Can the iPad Pro replace the laptop?
Arguably, the iPad Pro – albeit running iOS as opposed to OS X and lacking in mouse input – is a similar device to the Surface Book, and identical in its aim to replace your laptop PC. Apple filled most of the tablet’s internal space with a pair of giant batteries. In its disclosure that the iPad Pro features a USB 3.0-compliant Lightning port, the iFixit team said that a tear down of the tablet has revealed ‘Fresco Logic FL1100 4-port USB 3.0 Host Controller’. For handwriting and annotation, it allows text to vary just as though you were writing on paper.
Both the accessories will need to be purchased separately, with the Apple Pencil costing £79, and the smart keyboard £139. Seeing as though this release is such a big deal and marks a new era for Apple, they have launched two new featured sections that help highlight apps and gaming on this new, larger iPad with its attractive display.
Sure, these updates all sound awesome, but the other thing that’s changing is the starting price: The iPad Pro will set you back at least $800.
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s Surface Book can’t seem to impress Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) CEO, Tim Cook. The tablet is now available at Apple’s online store and in Apple stores until later this week, as reported by eWeek. The Apple iPad Pro will also come with Touch ID, an 8MP camera, four audio speakers and more. Why would the iPad Pro, which comes with a keyboard, be any different? After all, both are selling points for the Pro – even as I admit that the Pencil is probably more so than the Smart Keyboard.
This isn’t the first time an Apple executive has criticized Microsoft’s commitment to the “hybrid” tablet-laptop market.
Detchables like the iPad Pro are gaining ground on regular tablets.
