Fabregas furious with Chelsea Premier League campaign
The Italian predicts a long and arduous task for Mourinho if he is to revive the team’s fortunes, but pinpointed the continued backing he enjoys from the Stamford Bridge faithful as a major plus.
Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has revealed his anger at the club’s season so far, describing the campaign as “f*****”. When you don’t win, everything is tougher, but we have to be united and strong with the fans and the boss. The 28-year-old believed the La Liga giants pushed him out of the Catalan club, which convinced him to leave the treble winners.
The Spain worldwide has been unable to help Chelsea prevent their slide down the Premier League table this season.
He added: “Sometimes you can’t explain why things happen… what is going wrong”.
Jose Mourinho has been linked with a return to Madrid.
“There are many things which make it a special place, but for me it is down to its atmosphere, history and the tradition of Manchester United”. ‘By the start of the fourth [season] that Jose had been in charge, I think we had started to reach a point where it was sometimes harder for his message to get through. “Obviously when you’re not winning things always get said, whereas when you’re winning everything’s rosy”, Fabregas said. The defender claims Mourinho’s decision not to play him in the opening game of the 2014/15 season put him at a disadvantage, but still sees his time with Chelsea as a success.
He said on BBC Radio 5 live’s Sportsweek programme: “Chelsea are used to competing at the top level”. “Last season was excellent, despite the pain of the Champions League”. We didn’t lose a game in the competition [but went out] and … we won the Premier League and the League Cup.
“At the end of the day in football, you can play well, defend well, but it’s about scoring goals, about scoring one more goal”.
