Novak Djokovic revels in best season of his career
Novak Djokovic has capped off a brilliant year by taking out the ATP World Tour Finals in London on Monday morning (AEDT) with a straight-sets victory over Roger Federer. But their opponent after winning the first set gathered lot of confidence and was not in a mood to give the match away.
Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau have won the ATP World Tour Finals doubles title after beating Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea 6-4 6-3 in London. 2015. The year of the Djoker.
For Djokovic, it was a season to remember. It was Djokovic’s 11th title of the season, including three Grand Slam trophies.
Speaking on court, Djokovic said: “Obviously I’m very proud, together with my team, for the achievements of the season”. It’s been a long season, but the best of my life.
“I was going to take the three girls, I was going to go with my family”. I am just trying to cherish every moment, as a kid you dream of winning these big tournaments.
Swiss maestro Roger Federer has warned world-number one Novak Djokovic, saying that it will be hard for the latter to repeat his glorious year like 2015. There are the Olympic Games that are happening every four years, ” Djokovic said. Hopefully a better one for me. After a miserable 2015 campaign, Nadal had looked somewhere close to his best over the last week. My motivation has always been just personal, that I want to improve myself, I want to be better.
The serve set the tone. I returned more balls back than I did five days ago. But perhaps his serving was the most effective element of the game: he made 16 of 19 second serves.
Djokovic had been defeated by six-time champion Federer in the group stage on Tuesday but proved to be too strong for the Swiss in the final.
“He’s playing great. It’s going to be hard for him to play a bad year, that’s for sure”. “First, I’d like to tell you how happy I am that I can play today…” Thought I played some great tennis, even in the finals. Congratulations on a ridiculous year.

This time the crisis brought out some of Federer’s best tennis and clawed his way back from the brink with a string of big serves and booming winners. This was a power struggle between World Tour Finalists commanders who had combined to win 10 of the last 12 season-ending championships between them. The early stages of the match were reminiscent to yesterday’s semifinal against Stan Wawrinka, which saw Federer struggle in early service games before settling in to take control of the match. Earning break point with a tremendous running angled backhand pass, Djokovic broke for 2-1 when Federer flattened a forehand into net.
Seeded third in his London group with a No. 5 ranking, Nadal wrapped up first place after just two matches thanks to beatdowns of world No. 3 Wawrinka and world No. 2 Andy Murray.
Federer, bidding for a record-extending seventh title at the year-ender, was staring at the abyss when he trailed 3-4, 0-40 in the second set, but escaped by winning five straight points.
Djokovic seized the opportunity with in typically ruthless style, driving a victor down the line to seal the set. Already the Federer first serve was missing the spot and with the kind of precise returning that Djokovic can produce, the result was not in doubt. Federer did not hit an ace until the 10th game.
That Federer is playing well this week hardly comes as a shock.
