Sterling has a regret (From Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard)
The England global left fans of the Merseyside club furious with the way he and agent Aidy Ward handled his £49million move to Manchester City.
Sterling has already travelled to Australia to link up with his new team-mates and watched from the sidelines as his new side recorded a 1-0 victory over Melbourne City on Saturday. “That was the main problem I’ve had with the situation – how I’ve left it with Liverpool”, Sterling said on his exit.
“I was a bit disappointed how I left“, he told Fox Sports Australia.
Sterling knows there is plenty of expectation on him now he’s the most expensive British player in history.
But he admitted that the manner of his exit was “really disappointing”, after missing a period of pre-season training through illness after informing manager Rodgers of his intention to leave the club. “I think I made the right decision”.
Sterling cracked a smile, as did some of his new team-mates, but it must have been an uncomfortable moment for the young forward. We literally can’t wait to see what happens when City play Liverpool this season because we can only predict World War 3 will start and Sterling will need to be escorted out of Anfield by the SAS…
Yaya Toure did hit the crossbar with a dipping 20-yard free-kick, but Nasri had to come to the rescue to secure the win with an acrobatic half-volley from the edge of the area with just five minutes remaining.
But he is likely to figure in their next game with Roma on Tuesday or the final match of their tour against Real Madrid next Friday.
