The Denver Broncos sign a quarterback
“I wish I could”, he told the Post. That isn’t evidence that defense’s are suddenly fooling Manning; its a sign that he can’t consistently deliver the ball where it needs to go on time.
The Denver Broncos – as I have been writing this – have fired back at these reports…
Coach Gary Kubiak said he and GM John Elway were concerned about their depth at QB “because we’re sitting here with a guy who has one start in this league and a kid who doesn’t have a play….”
With a light snowfall, ice on the practice field, and freezing temperatures, the Broncos practiced indoors Thursday.
The game time was waning, yet Denver couldn’t drive 10 yards forward for a potential game clinching first down. Brady’s pass protection hasn’t been bulletproof recently and with unfamiliar targets in critical roles due to injuries, the Broncos like their fleet of cover cornerbacks to win on the edge.
“He’s had an opportunity to come up the right way and get to learn from a great player”, Kubiak said Sunday. “I really didn’t. I thought everybody was joking with me”, Osweiler said.
“And we have our noise in there, too”. “Sometimes that happens. We have to clean that up”. “Hopefully, we’ll be back out there tomorrow”.
Linebackers Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware are as scary a twosome as you’ll see in the NFL. That’s probably a good thing – because there’s not a lot of National Football League film of the kid to work with. “Just because you’re going to be playing in 20-degree weather doesn’t mean you have to practice in it. We’re all pros. We all know what type of environment that we’re getting ready to play in”. Real good edge players.
When asked if the team’s preparation is any different without Peyton Manning calling signals or if having the 6’7 quarterback Brock Osweiler under center would change the Pats defensive pressure.
Several of Manning’s teammates said they didn’t feel that his seeking a second opinion on his injured foot raised any red flags.
Osweiler became the first quarterback drafted by the Broncos since Kubiak in 1983 to earn a victory in his first start with the team.
Denver is an even 2-2 SU in games where it wins the turnover battle, yet undefeated (5-0 SU) when losing the turnover battle. He focused on finding Vernon Davis and Owen Daniels, but maybe with a little bit more confidence we’ll start seeing bigger plays and longer passes in the direction of a pair of very talented wide receivers.
Aqib Talib is more pumped up than a Patriots’ football… which isn’t saying much. “Here’s why: He’s going to be in a cast for up to 10 days, then he’s got another week of rehab, and then he’s got to try to get on the field”.
