Packers unveil Favre’s No. 4
Brett Favre threw some kind words at the man who replaced him at quarterback for the Green Bay Packers.
Both players missed the team’s game on Sunday with leg injuries, but both were declared active by Chicago ahead of their Thanksgiving showdown against the Green Bay Packers.
The Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers are playing on the Thanksgiving NFL schedule on Thursday and the matchup is on TV from NBC.
The sides had a messy divorce in 2008 with Favre waffling about retirement.
For while Thursday night was supposed to be all about honoring one of the Green Bay Packers’ legendary quarterbacks and unveiling Favre’s retired No. 4 on the north end-zone façade, it was Starr, the team’s first iconic signal-caller, who delivered the night’s most meaningful moment when he stood on the Lambeau Field turf and he and Favre embraced.
The 30-13 win over the Vikings last week saw the Packers end a three game slide, and allowed them to pull up level alongside the Vikings at the top of the division. “The only thing I didn’t get to do was shake Brett Favre’s hand”. Rodgers finished 22-for-43 for 202 yards with one touchdown pass and one interception, unable to prevent the Packers from losing back-to-back home games against division rivals. The Packers defense rebounded against the run with a solid game on Adrian Peterson, limiting him to less than 50 yards and the team will try and do the same against the Bears.
It put ball security at a premium. “We’ve won some and we’ve lost some”, Cutler said.
“It was just really a good team effort defensively”, coach John Fox said.
Trailing 7-0, Chris Prosinski forced a fumble from Eddie Lacy to give Chicago the ball at the Packers 36-yard line. After a Zach Miller touchdown pass tied the game 7-7, the Packers hit a field goal to take the lead again.
Adams dropped another pass in the open on third-and-long in the first quarter that could have led to a big gain.
HARD RUNNING: Lacy ran for 105 yards on 17 carries and scored on a 25-yard catch-and-run. “This isn’t an easy place to win, so this is definitely one we’re going to take into the next five weeks”.
RB Ka’Deem Carey – He’s been a valuable inside runner for the Bears, but with Forte back rookie Jeremy Langford should move into Carey’s short-yardage role.
